It passed! It's revised. The proposed revision of the Constitution and International Standing Rules, available in the March/April NEWS, passed with amendments. Changes to the document are available on the weband will be available in the September/October NEWS. Additional resources to explain the effects of the changes are available for chapter and state organizations presidents and members. A 2010 edition of the governing documents will be available by January 1, 2011. This timeline results from needs for legal correctness, organizational preferences and production processes. The parliamentarian must review official report of the court reporter (about three weeks after the end of the meetings) and extract the “official list of motions.” The executive director must send minutes for approval by the Committee to Approve Minutes of the Convention. The parliamentarian edits the proposed revision to include adopted convention amendments. The International Constitution Committee certifies the document’s accuracy and releases it for final editing and publication. Proofreading, formatting, cover, number of copies, binding, size…all of those details must be approved and put out for bid. Then the question of pricing and mailing and delivery systems must be addressed. “Yes, we plan to present it before January 1,” several administrators and board members said, “But the process has many i’s to dot and t’s to cross.” |
