Barbara St Urbain

Barbara St Urbain, a member of Tau Chapter in Stockton, was recently awarded the Susan B. Anthony Award for Community Service for San Joaquin County. Community Service has always been an integral part of Barbara's life. From a young age, she believed she could be the voice for those who had none; the teacher for those who had been deprived of a quality education; and the conduit for those looking for acceptance and change. You can see this philosophy actualized in her work with persons with special needs, immigrants, Dreamers, ESL students, foster youth, religious and cultural groups, as well as international students.
After retiring in 2016 from Modesto Junior College as Coordinator of the Center for International and Undocumented Students, Barbara has found worthwhile work as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), working one-on-one with foster youth. She has also earned numerous awards and recognitions, including Latino of the Year, the Ron Moffett Award for contributions made to International Education and Social Justice, and the Soroptimists' Woman of Distinction Award.
Tau Chapter is very proud of Barbara and her commitment to making the world a better place for everyone!
