Member Portrays Heart of the DKG Purposes

The Purposes of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International remind members what the Society is really about. While she portrays many characteristics of a DKG woman, Celeste Carr Williams (Maryland Theta Chapter) particularly displays the heart of Purposes three1 and four2 through her work with the National Education Association (NEA).

Celeste was recently highlighted by the NEA in “Six over 60: Meet Retired Educators Who Are Still Making a Difference” for her work as an advocate for educators, women, retirees and minorities. She says, “We need to be aware of what’s happening in education, and we need to protect the profession from harmful policies and practices.”

1Purpose 3: to advance the professional interest and position of women in education.

2Purpose 4: to initiate, endorse, and support desirable legislation or other suitable endeavors in the interests of education and of women educators.
