Tallinn awaits you in its summer glory. Plan to enjoy both the conference that concentrates on supporting learning environments (see the article on ERC speakers) and the delights Estonia can offer you.
The conference venue, Nordic Hotel Forum, is a short walk away from the Baltic Sea and from the bustling center of Tallinn, Estonia’s capital.
Tallinn is easily accessible by plane and ferry, the airport being just three kilometres away, and the seaport being located just a stone’s throw from the conference venue.
Be prepared to venture from the hotel during tours and on your own. It is advisable to have travel insurance and comfortable walking shoes and to be prepared for unpredictable weather.
You may pre-register for tours on the conference website, ERC2017.weebly.com, and at a tour desk once you have arrived at the venue.
A few conference events will be held outside the hotel. Estonia Night will be held at School 21, a renowned school of Estonian school architecture. Night on the Town features a concert and a festive medieval meal, both taking place in Old Town in outstanding historical buildings.
Two options during Friday’s breakout sessions (11.00 – 13.00) will also take you outside the conference venue: 1. Visiting schools (2 groups, 2x40) and 2. 19th century school lesson (2 groups, 2x15).
Of course, there will be time to explore on your own. Why not arrive a couple of days early or stay for some days after the conference, and venture further afield? https://www.visitestonia.com/en might give you ideas, and there will be suggestions on the conference website, too. So, welcome to Estonia! See you in July.
