OPENING GENERAL MEETING| 6PM | JW MARRIOTT
opening session Will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the biennial procession of the flags representing
the many countries and cultures of
members in our Society. Welcomes delivered
by such U.S. historical personages as Ben
Franklin and Betsy Ross will set the tone for a
week devoted to historical sights just outside
the doors of the Marriott Downtown Hotel,
site of the convention.
MARKET EVENT| 7PM | READING TERMINAL MARKET
Shortly after 7 p.m. the ticketed event at the Reading Terminal Market begins.
The 2020 DKG International Convention features the first ticketed event to follow an Opening General Session! Members will exit the Marriott Downtown Hotel’s Grand Ballroom following our Chinese Dragon Dance performers and wind their way to the Reading Terminal Market just across the street from the hotel. Once there expect to experience one of America’s oldest (since 1893) and largest public markets. RTM is home to 80 local merchants, many of whom are remaining open exclusively for DKG’s two-hour event.
Don’t eat before you go! Your ticket gives you access to the food vendors and Molly Malone’s beverage stations. Pause to sample culinary treats typical of the many cultures that call Philadelphia “home” – Philly cheesesteaks, Italian hoagies, Pennsylvania Dutch fare – simply the widest variety of ethnic food under one roof anywhere in the city. Graze for two hours as you wander the premises and are entertained by a local DJ playing tunes that include some actually first performed in this city. Reading Terminal Market is the perfect venue to reconnect with DKG friends from past international events and to make new connections – all within steps of your convention home for the week. Don’t miss this unique convention event!
Tickets sales are limited and include two hours of food and drinks along with entertainment on the premises.
You can purchase a ticket for this event when you register for the Convention.
